Street party applications for Harrow Community Lunch now open
People can start organising their own community lunch party which is being billed as one of the biggest social events of the year. Harrow Borough Council has been giving top tips to people looking to take part in this year’s Harrow Community Lunch which will be taking place on Sunday June 2. People have until Tuesday April 30 to apply for their road to be closed to hold a street party. The council has announced it will waive road closure fees for the day. The latest stage of demolition of four blocks of flats to make way for more than 150 new homes is underway. The flats in Mill Farm Close, Pinner, are being demolished to make way for the new homes which are being built by housing association Catalyst in partnership with Harrow Borough Council. AN AMBITIOUS and inspirational music teacher has died, aged 98. Born in 1914, Esther Bellis was a pianist and teacher of music from 1955 to 2010. Teaching for many years at Saint Joseph’s, Dobbin Close, Belmont Circle; Norbury School,
Welldon Crescent, Harrow; and Longfield Primary School, Duke’s Avenue, North Harrow,
Esther was not only a much-loved part of the community, but also an inspirational one.
Esther’s funeral will be at Harrow Baptist Church, College Road, Harrow, on Friday, April 12, at 10am,
with family flowers only and donations welcome to Guide Dogs UK.
